Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport announced March 9 new nonstop service with Avelo Airlines to New Haven, Connecticut, and Orlando, Florida.
Avelo will be the only airline to offer nonstop flights to Connecticut and nonstop jet travel to Orlando International Airport when it begins in June. Introductory one-way fares from GSP will start at $49.
“We’re confident our customers here in the Upstate will appreciate their nonstop service. In particular their low fares as well,” says GSP President and CEO Dave Edwards. “This is an exciting addition to our family of airlines and we look forward to growing together in the years to come.”
The first flight will take place in June, with service to Orlando beginning on June 7. Avelo will offer twice weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays with a goal to add Monday and Friday flights beginning June 23.
Flights to Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport will begin June 22 with twice weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
Both routes will use Boeing next-generation 737 aircraft.
Greenville is Avelo’s third in South Carolina. Avelo Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy says the market has taken well to Charleston and Myrtle Beach, which encouraged the decision to join GSP.
“The vibrant economy in the entire state of South Carolina and Greenville-Spartanburg, in particular, made this a natural choice for our next destination as we took delivery of new aircraft,” says Levy.
Recently, Airports Council International recognized GSP as Best Small Airport in North America in 2022, along with:
- Airport with the Most Dedicated Staff in North America
- Easiest Airport Journey in North America
- Most Enjoyable Airport in North America
- Cleanest Airport in North America
