Anderson Automotive Group buys seven more Upstate dealerships

Anderson Automotive Group has purchased seven dealerships from Greer-based MCE Automotive Group.

The deal, which was made public Aug. 21, includes five dealerships in Greer, one in Greenville and one in Easley.

“We see enormous opportunity in the Greenville, Greer and Easley areas,” said Fred Anderson, chairman of Anderson Automotive Group.

The dealerships included in the purchase are: Toyota of Greer; Hyundai of Greer; Genesis of Greer; Nissan of Greer; Kia of Greer; Kia of Greenville; and Mike Hovart Chevrolet. All will now be headlined by the Fred Anderson name, with Hovart changing to Fred Anderson Chevrolet of Easley.

Anderson credited MCE principal Mark Escude and his team with building “a loyal customer base with world-class service by a tremendous group of employees. We are thrilled to have them part of the Anderson Automotive family.”

It is the second Upstate acquisition for the company in 2023. Anderson Automotive announced Jan. 31 it had purchased Greer-based Bradshaw Automotive Group, which now operates under the Anderson name.

Anderson now has 18 dealerships across the Carolinas with more than 1,700 employees. Ten of those dealerships are in the Upstate, one is in Charleston and seven are in North Carolina.

The family-owned business was founded in 1955 as a Chevrolet dealership in Creedmoor, North Carolina.
