Major redevelopment projects will be presented at the city of Greenville’s project preview meeting on Aug. 25.
Residents are invited to attend the meeting to provide feedback on proposed projects before they are reviewed by the city’s Design Review Board, Planning Commission or Board of Zoning Appeals. The drop-in-style meeting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Greenville Civic Design Center at 15 S. Main St.
Here’s a closer look at some of the projects on the agenda.
Former Greenville Transit Authority property
Preliminary designs will be presented for a major redevelopment of the former Greenville Transit Authority property on Augusta Street. The project would transform 3.65 acres of land next to Fluor Field and Gather GVL in Greenville’s West End.
The proposed mixed-use project would consist of up to 385 residential units, two hotels and retail/restaurant space spread across several buildings. A dog park and parking garage are also planned to be created as part of the project.
Upstate-based Accente Group purchased the two parcels at 106 and 154 Augusta St. from the Greenville Transit Authority in 2025. The city of Greenville currently owns the third parcel of land planned for the project at 911 S. Main St. The property consists of a city-owned parking lot.
The city’s Design Review Board will review the design for the proposed redevelopment project at an upcoming meeting.
Bowater Building/JW Marriott
Auro Hotels plans to turn the four-story Bowater Building next to Falls Park into the JW Marriott Greenville as part of the future Falls Park Conference District. The Greenville-based hospitality management firm unveiled the project at 55 E. Camperdown Way in early August.
Community members will have the opportunity to review the project’s details at the upcoming project preview meeting. The adaptive-reuse hotel project will later go before the Design Review Board for approval.
The proposed 335-room hotel will feature four food and beverage options, more than 8,800 square feet of meeting space, an executive lounge, a fitness center and outdoor terraces overlooking the Reedy River.
Two tower additions – one rising seven stories and the other five stories – are proposed on the west side of the Bowater Building facing the park. The seven-story addition would be connected to the existing parking garage on the site.
