Mug and Muffin Cafe, the Greenville mainstay that has been serving up breakfast and lunch for 25 years out of its spot at 2222 Augusta St., has closed its doors for good.
The eatery posted the news on a sign outside the establishment. Citing years of struggle to find steady labor, the eatery’s ownership said they had decided to close their doors, effective immediately.
“We thank our customers and friends for the last 25 years of serving you in Greenville at our location,” they wrote. “We have enjoyed every minute of time spent with you and your families. But the challenges of finding steady labor has weighed heavily on us the last couple of years, and we have decided to close the Mug and Muffin Cafe effective immediately. We will miss all of you and wish you all the best in the future. Your Mug and Muffin family.”
It is not immediately clear whether Mug and Muffin’s catering business will continue in the aftermath of the cafe’s closure.
