It was announced in January that Smoke on the Water will officially leave its first home at 1 Augusta St. in March 2024 to move to 64 Beacon Drive in East Greenville, leaving questions about what may fill the spot.
It’s been a little secret, but the cat’s out of the bag. Nic & Norman’s will soon fill the space, embracing Greenville as the fifth location for the restaurant owned by Norman Reedus and Greg Nicotero.
Both Reedus and Nicotero are veterans of television’s “The Walking Dead.” Reedus portrayed Daryl Dixon on the show, while producer, prosthetic makeup artist and special effects legend Nicotero played an essential role in bringing the visuals on the show to life.
David Valentine, senior vice president of operations for the restaurant, said the concept was initially a hang-out for the show’s crew seven or eight years ago. The “hang out” led to the restaurant chain’s flagship location in Senoia, Ga.
The space at 1 Augusta will get a little facelift, Valentine said. Plans are to move the bar and entrance to the front of the restaurant so when guests walk in from Augusta Street, they’ll get more of a “Nic & Norman’s feel.” The dining area will be situated more toward the back.
Guests can expect a casual, speakeasy-type feel with chandeliers, large booths and Southern-inspired cuisine.
Targeted opening will be June or July of this year, with the company taking control of the space in April.
Nic & Norman’s has locations in Senoia, Ga, Lexington and Louisville, Ky, and Chattanooga, Tenn.
