Greenville chef Nico Abello plans to open his own restaurant under the Table 301 Hospitality umbrella.
Abello, who was born in France, has been corporate chef with Table 301 since 2022. Although a name was not given for the new restaurant, it is expected to open late 2025 above The Lazy Goat at 170 Riverplace.
Table 301, under the direction of local restaurateur Carl Sobocinski, operates several local restaurants, including Soby’s, The Lazy Goat, Nose Dive, Camp and Jones Oyster Co. in downtown Greenville. It expanded outside the downtown footprint last year for the first time, opening Tavola in BridgeWay Station. The group also operates a catering arm.
Sobocinski and Table 301 have at times provided a platform for local restaurateurs to open a concept and later spin off from the group once established. Papi’s Tacos, Jianna, Passerelle Bistro and Southern Pressed Juicery were all founded as part of Table 301 Hospitality.
Abello spent much of his career in the Michelin-starred kitchens of the world. A classically-trained chef, he was in culinary school at age 15. By 17, he was apprenticing under chef Gérard Vié and sous chef Laurent Zajac at the double-starred Les Trois Marches in Versailles.
