The Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2 million grant to the Startex-Jackson-Wellford Duncan Water District in Spartanburg to make water treatment plant improvements needed to support the location of a new Japanese manufacturer.
The grant, which will go toward upgrading water and sewer infrastructure to support business development, will help create an estimated 300 new jobs and generate $1 billion in private investment, according to a release.
