Greenville-based Sage Automotive Interiors announced buying Italian fabric maker Miko S.R.L. The 55-employee company manufactures suede-like interior fabrics that can be found in Volvo, Mercedes, Jaguar, Porsche, Cadillac and Ford vehicles.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition will not affect U.S. jobs, the company said in a news release.
Miko was founded as a furniture fabric producer in Gorizia, Italy, in 1997. The company’s core business is producing a microfiber called Dinamica, the bulk of which are used for internal car coverings, according to a news release.
“The Dinamica brand of suede-like fabric is a natural expansion of our customer offering,” said Sage Automotive CEO Dirk Pieper.
Sage Automotive provides automotive fabrics for seating, door panel surfaces and headliners to vehicle manufacturers.
