The Greenville-based Fuller Group recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, and the structural-engineering firm is poised for changes at the top in year 26.
Company founder and principal Bill Fuller planned to retire at the end of 2023, announcing his plans to colleagues during the anniversary celebration and publicly in early December.
“The company and the partners that are there now have the same vision and same goals that I did when I started the company,” Fuller said. “That is to provide excellent service to our clients and to also be considerate of the community at large.”
As part of its 25th anniversary, members of the Fuller Group worked in November with nonprofit Rebuild Upstate to build a ramp at a local residence for improved accessibility.
“At this stage of my career, I’m very interested in giving back to the community,” said Fuller, a Greenville Humane Society board member. “We’re a strong believer in giving back to the community, but we also want to say that the company continued to grow and provide the excellent services that we have in the past.”
Since the company’s beginnings in the Upstate, it has grown steadily and is now certified to provide engineering services in the contiguous continental U.S. It has offices on Cleveland Street in Greenville.
“I believed there was room to sharpen our pencils and provide more concise designs for our clients,” Fuller said. “I felt that not only could we save them money, but we could also require less materials, thereby benefiting the environment. So, when I started my own company, my goals were to provide a superior product to our clients and to also provide an atmosphere where the employees could reach their full potential.”
He found a wealth of engineering talent in the Upstate and was able to grow a client base and a culture that now stretches from coast to coast.
“We have engineers licensed in every state except Alaska and Hawaii, and this turned out to be a really good decision for us,” Fuller said. “We work on a lot of projects nationally, but we love to work on local projects as well.”
Some of Fuller Group’s local projects include work at Camperdown Plaza, the Greenville County administration offices, the Peace Center and the Neighborhood Cancer Connection‘s new headquarters.
“I will forever be grateful to the many members of the community that have made the past 25 years so special for both myself and the Fuller Group family,” Fuller said.
