Bridge City Coffee has opened a new coffee shop in downtown Greenville within the First Presbyterian campus.
Located at 200 W. Washington St., just off Academy Street, it is the third for the local coffee shop concept.
The new space, dubbed Bridge City @ The Intersection, is outfitted with a fireplace, plenty of seating and a small art gallery. Like the two other Bridge City locations, including its flagship store at 1520 Wade Hampton Blvd. in Greenville and its second location on S. Main Street in Travelers Rest, the shop will specialize in offering coffee sourced from individual growers and farmers who would benefit from Bridge City’s support beyond paying a fair price.
It will serve drip coffee, espresso beverages both hot and cold, and other typical coffee shop fare.
Coffee and community
Bridge City Coffee began its life with its flagship location in 2018 with a unique business model.
The goal was to employ underprivileged teens and adults who underwent 12 months of training in more than just working a coffee counter. They also learned about their strengths and weaknesses, what types of careers fit within those parameters, and how they could apply their new-found skills and qualifications outside of the coffee shop.
While many restaurants are struggling with staff retention and looking for solutions, Bridge City Coffee will be doing the exact opposite. The end-goal is to partner with other local employers and place the trainees in other jobs once they’ve completed training.
The partnership with First Presbyterian continues that mission by combining the two organizations’ focus on community-oriented service.
Bridge City Coffee’s downtown spot is located at 200 W. Washington St. Drive. Look for the big blue banners with the Bridge City Coffee name and logo.
