Last July, the longtime downtown Greenville bar, restaurant and music venue Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe announced it would be closing its doors after more than 15 years of bringing unique live music acts to the Upstate.
But now, thanks to a partnership with another downtown West End business, the venue will have a second life.
Smiley’s will reopen on Sept. 6 as Smiley’s On the Roxx in the space currently occupied by On the Roxx nightclub.
Located at 734 S. Main St., just a block away from the old Smiley’s space, the new venue will still cater to crowds seeking intimate live music acts with an acoustic bent.
The goal is to combine the best of both worlds, according to create “Greenville’s premier restaurant and music venue” with a “casual upscale dining experience,” according to the owners.
