United Community’s $65 million headquarters in downtown Greenville is set to open in March 2024.
Built to accommodate the company’s growing workforce, the headquarters features 92 offices, 226 workstations and 26 conference rooms. The approximately 200,000-square-foot building overlooks the Reedy River and sits on 42 acres next to the Grand Bohemian Lodge at 200 E. Camperdown Way.
The bank has been headquartered in Greenville since 2021, with its employees spread across various downtown office locations. When the new headquarters opens, everyone will operate under one roof.

“I think just the opportunity to have us all there together, it’d be a wonderful thing,” said CEO Lynn Harton.
The bank’s downtown Greenville branch, which is currently located on East North Street, will also move to the new headquarters.
The building’s open and modern design aims to create an inviting atmosphere for connection and collaboration between employees. It was also designed according to WELL health and wellbeing standards and is one of the first certified buildings in South Carolina.
Employee workstations face perimeter window walls that provide natural light and views of downtown and Falls Park. The building also features multiple conversation corners and two outdoor venue spaces.
Harton said another unique design element is that all employees will enter through the front entrance to the building. He envisions the first floor as a gathering space that will feature a coffee bar.
“We’re not big on work from home or work from anywhere kind of thing because we think you gain so much when you’re together,” Harton said. “To do that, you’ve got to have a place where people want to come.”
The headquarters also offers room for expansion. Harton said around 240 employees are expected to begin working in the space starting March 1. The building capacity is 320.
Harton said an 80-person team will continue to operate in a separate building the company owns located on East Broad Street. The second office space will also offer additional room for growth.
The two-year construction process is down to the final details.
“We’re very excited about it,” Harton said. “It’s been a long process. We’ve been working on it for some time, and just really excited about getting everybody together.”
