Watch the iMAGINE Upstate Transportation Hack-A-Thon’s project pitches here beginning at 7 p.m.

The teams of computer coders and programmers will showcase projects they’ve created between Friday and now related to four categories: infrastructure, parking, bikes and trails or public/mass transit.
The hacking competition organized to help spur use of creativity, technology and public records to find solutions to local transportation challenges, said Ryan Heafy, iMAGINE Upstate director and founder.
The data and software coding programmers’ presentations will show how groups of participants leveraged public information to help improve transportation issues in the Upstate.
The teams will pitch their work to a panel of judges, who will determine who receives prizes based on the quality of the projects.
Presented by Robert Half Technology, the civic competition will take place at Clemson University’s International Center for Automotive Research in Greenville. Partners include Community Code, iT-oLogy, Project Hub, the Upstate Business Journal and The Iron Yard.
Along with Hack-A-Thon project pitches, the event also included a morning session to introduce kids to software coding and innovative technology demonstrations related to Upstate transportation.
iMAGINE Upstate was formed as an effort to create interest locally in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to help create a workforce for high-tech, high-skilled jobs in the region. The organization hosted a festival in April to showcase the blend of Upstate businesses, industry and educational opportunities related to STEM.
