Wire 3, a Florida-based internet provider, plans to invest $36 million to expand its fiber-optic network into its first South Carolina market.
Around 35,000 residents and businesses in Anderson will soon have access to Wire 3’s high-speed internet services. Jai Ramachandran, CEO of Wire 3, said Anderson stood out immediately as the company looked at opportunities to expand into South Carolina.
“This is a community with strong local pride, a growing economy, and a vision for the future,” Ramachandran said. “We’re excited to bring our fiber network to Anderson and provide the fast, reliable internet service that residents and businesses deserve. We believe great connectivity strengthens communities, and we’re proud to ensure that Anderson will be wired for good.”
Construction is currently underway in the initial service areas in Anderson. According to Wire 3, residents in construction areas will be notified several weeks in advance before work begins. Wire 3’s first customers in Anderson are expected to be connected by this fall.
In the future, Wire 3 plans to continue installing fiber internet in other communities in Upstate South Carolina including Central, Clemson, Easley, Travelers Rest and Pendleton.
