Upstate Business Journal presents the next installment of Alpha Mode, its new digital feature that appears each month on upstatebusinessjournal.com in partnership with Manfred Gollent (QLI International LLC ) and Alex LaCasse (MTN LLC).

“At the core of every decision that impacts our society is leadership,” says Adela Mendoza.

This month’s Alpha Mode, “Conversations with Next-Level Leaders,” features Adela Mendoza, executive director of the Hispanic Alliance. She offers her views on the evolution of a multicultural society and some of the inherent challenges, as well as opportunities.

Adela Mendoza is an international professional skilled at building strategic collaborative partnerships, facilitating cross-cultural relationships, and leading diverse teams and coalitions. In her role as executive director of the Hispanic Alliance, Mendoza is driving systemic change to increase access to opportunity for the emerging Hispanic community.

Before joining the Alliance,Mendoza worked for SE Consulting Inc., and was statewide program manager for the South Carolina Immigrant Victim Network, where she helped establish international cooperative relations among foreign consulates and U.S. organizations. Mendoza, who lives in Greenville, is a native of Veracruz, Mexico, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in communications and journalism from Universidad del Valle.

Mendoza is an Aspen Ideas Festival Scholar, a Liberty Fellow, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She is also a graduate of Leadership Greenville and Furman University’s Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Institute, which in 2018 honored her with their Outstanding Contribution to International Diversity Award.

This summer, Mendoza was recognized by the McNulty Foundation and the Aspen Institute among six fellows from around the world for her venture, the Student Dreamers Alliance.

Mendoza serves on the boards of Community Foundation of Greenville, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina, the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, and Legacy Charter School, as well as the United Way Community Investment Cabinet and MedEx Academy Advisory Board.
