This month’s Alpha Mode, “Conversations With Next-Level Leaders,” features Kevin Poyck, group president of Hubbell Lighting. He offers insight into the business evolution of the lighting industry, strategy, and a relevant leadership approach to building businesses. Assessing challenges, communicating with people about strategic focus areas, and devising innovative solutions to emphasize customer satisfaction are very important in Poyck’s world.
Poyck leads all brands and businesses within Hubbell Lighting. He is based in the Greenville office and reports directly to David Nord, Hubbell chairman, president, and CEO.
Poyck has multifunctional industry experience in product development, engineering, operations, and brand management with organizations that include Maytag and Cooper Industries. He joined Hubbell Lighting in 2005 as vice president of engineering, establishing the Engineering Shared Services organization, and most recently served as vice president of commercial and industrial lighting.
Poyck earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Clemson University, is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and has been awarded four U.S. patents related to automated-system design. He is a member of IEEE, the Upstate Lean Alliance, and serves on the NEMA Lighting Systems Division Executive Board of Directors. Poyck resides in Greenville, South Carolina with his family where he actively participates in civic and philanthropic endeavors, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.
