Furman University has launched its Center for Innovative Leadership, a talent development initiative that works to support mature and growing businesses in Greenville and the Upstate region, the college announced March 20.
Led by Executive Director Garrett Stern, who came to Furman in August 2022 from the University of Richmond, the CIL has developed strategic partnerships with three organizations:
- Global Leadership Services of Spartanburg – This leadership development firm serves as a preferred channel partner for the Greensboro, North Carolina-based Center for Creative Leadership and provides globally recognized leadership curricula.
- UX Design Institute of Dublin, Ireland – Furman serves as the institute’s first U.S. partner university and will offer courses to foster business innovation and build tech talent.
- Peak Performance of Richmond, Virginia – The CIL is working with Peak Performance to bring DEI leadership coaching and amp up Furman’s Women’s Leadership Initiative, which debuted in 1998.
“The CIL is designed to meet professionals at any point along their journey,” said Stern. “We aim to provide transformative learning that will alter career trajectories, whether through certificate programs, short courses or one-on-one coaching. We want to serve the broader Upstate community by doing what Furman does best, providing impactful education and building community leaders.”
The CIL is also accepting applications for the Women’s Leadership Initiative, which begins on April 27.
