Renovations will soon be underway to enhance Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina’s location on Augusta Street in Greenville.
The nonprofit organization plans to transform the existing strip mall at 3214 Augusta St. into a new multi-use campus. The campus will feature an expanded retail store, an attendant donation center and a new career and training center.
Chunsta Miller, vice president of communication and public engagement for Goodwill, said the organization has leased retail space within the strip mall on Augusta Street since 1993. Goodwill purchased the shopping plaza in November 2025.
“We saw an opportunity here to really impact the community by bringing a career and training center to the area but also expanding the retail space so people can find goods at affordable prices,” Miller said.
The renovation of the Augusta Street location marks Goodwill’s second facility project in Greenville in the past two years. The nonprofit organization opened Goodwill at the Trail on Haywood Road in September 2025.
Goodwill is working with Betsch Associates and Caldwell Constructors to complete the 23,829-square-foot renovation project on Augusta Street.
Through the project, the nonprofit organization will expand its existing 7,000-square-foot thrift store by approximately 2,000 square feet. Miller said the additional space will help elevate the shopping experience for customers and support the organization’s career services.
“Over 90 cents of every dollar that people spend (in our stores) goes back into our mission services, and that is to put people back to work,” Miller said.
Approximately 4,000 square feet of space within the multi-use campus will be used for Goodwill’s new career and training center. The new center will provide training programs, job fairs and wraparound services to help people secure employment.
Goodwill’s thrift store on Augusta Street will be closed starting Aug. 2 for renovations. Miller said donations will still be accepted at the location throughout the renovation project. The new multi-use campus is expected to reopen in the summer of 2027.
