When Matthew Langlands began working at The Press Espresso in California, back in 2016, he had no idea he would open his own coffee shop on Greenville’s Main Street.
Tselia Coffee will open soon at 219 N. Main St. between The Comedy Zone and Maren + Main.
“The Press Espresso is actually where I got my first chance to learn roasting,” Langlands said. “So the owners are a husband and wife couple – very, very sweet – DeShun and Yasmin Wooten. And to be honest, they actually took a chance on me. That was my first job.”
The Wootens later approached Langlands to roast coffee, a skill he will bring to the new shop.
The Langlands family moved to Greenville from Temecula, California a few years ago and fell in love right away. They are all involved in opening the new shop. Matthew’s parents, Annie and Sinclair, are co-owners. His sister Rebecca manages social media.
Roasting at Tselia Coffee
A mid-September opening date is planned and renovations are in progress. The interior displays a moody color palette with hints of industrial elegance. Expect black and grey, with hints of pink to complement the logo.
Tselia will offer pastries, grab-and-go options, syrups and beans roasted or made in-house. Langlands will source the beans from Ally Coffee, which is headquartered in Greenville, and a few other that are still in the works.
The coffee shop will use the same model roaster on which Langlands learned his trade – a six-pound machine from San Franciscan Roaster Co.
As of now, the hours for Tselia are expected to be 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
