Renewable Water Resources Chief Executive Officer Joel H. Jones announced Feb. 27 he plans to retire from his position on April 30.
Jones began his career at ReWa in 1993 as a night-shift operator trainee after graduating from Clemson University. He served in various capacities at ReWa before accepting a position at Spartanburg Water as reclaimed water operations manager in 2002. In 2012, he returned to ReWa and served in various roles, including chief technical officer and chief operating officer, before being named CEO in 2022.
“ReWa will always be part of me,” Jones said. “I have been given tremendous opportunities and learned valuable lessons from the people in my career. I’ve also made lifelong friends. I am truly blessed. I’m grateful to have spent most of my career with ReWa, and I appreciate the dedicated and talented people across this utility, and the water industry, who contribute to the Upstate being a special place to live.”

ReWa’s board has named Rebecca West as its next CEO.
West is a biologist who started her career at ReWa as a lab analyst. She has more than 35 years of water industry experience on the international, national, state, regional and local levels. She worked as chief operating officer at Greenville Water and Spartanburg Water before returning to ReWa in 2023.
West served as a trustee on the Water Environment Federation board before becoming its president in 2009.
