William Floyd, executive director of the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette announced the launch of Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders, a youth-employment initiative, during a press conference May 1 in Charleston.
This initiative includes the youth employment site job board made for teenagers that shows which jobs are available and how to apply. The site is mobile-friendly. Employers may be accessed by zip code, age and experience level.
“Connecting young people with job opportunities early in their schooling is essential for our developing workforce and part of the mission of our agency,” Floyd said. “Whether after school or seasonal work, part-time jobs are foundational training grounds for young people that enable them to become our future industry leaders and great workers.”
The initiative’s webpage includes resume-building tips, information about soft skills and answers to parents’ frequently asked questions. For more information, visit dew.sc.gov/youthemployment.
