A 25-story office building in downtown Greenville will soon get an old name and a new look.
Currently called the Landmark building, the office tower located at 301 N. Main St. will be rebranded back to its original name – the Daniel Building. It was named in honor of Charles Daniel whose construction company, Daniel International Corp., built the structure. Rising more than 300 feet, it is the city’s tallest building.

Gaston Albergotti, president of Dunean Capital Management, said a $4 million renovation project will also be completed to give the building a refresh and reintroduce it to the market.
“We’ve got plans to renovate the plaza as well as the exterior of the parking deck sort of in conjunction with the Cultural Corridor project that the city is doing,” Albergotti said. “We plan to tie in our plaza with that, make it more pedestrian-friendly.”
New outdoor seating, landscaping, lighting and other site furnishings will be added to the updated plaza. Plans for the redevelopment of the outdoor plaza will be reviewed by the city’s Design Review Board on Jan. 18.
The building’s lobby will also be renovated in line with the site’s history, Albergotti explained. The lobby will have a mid-century modern design with wood tones and brass accents.
“We’ve got a lot of space available,” Albergotti said. “We’re hoping to attract some more retail on the main lobby level as well as office tenants.”
Renovations are expected to begin in the second quarter of this year and should take 12 months to complete. Back-of-the-house updates have already been done in the past year including installing a new roof, a fire panel and more, Albergotti said.
