For a while, much of the information the public received regarding Hampton Station was dominated by closures.
The former cotton warehouse came under new ownership December 2024 with Charlotte-based Abacus Capital. The new owners would like to re-introduce the mixed-use development.
“Our vision for Hampton Station is truly to just bring it back to its former glory and make it obviously fresher and newer, but not reinvent the wheel of what we believe is special about it,” said Abacus Capital partner Mason Ellerbe during a news event April 29.

Ellerbee and managing partner Wes McAdams went over plans for the development during the event, noting that the former White Duck Taco and Birds Fly South spaces have now been subdivided between Isomer Project Group and a soon-to-come food and beverage concept.
Ellerbee said Isomar will occupy roughly 8,000 square feet of space.

The partners are still in negotiations for the remaining space and couldn’t reveal detail. However, they did say the business is a known entity.
Currently, the development is about 70% occupied.
The front lawn and green space was Abacus’ first priority and it now has a putt-putt course and picnic tables. Additionally, they installed new roofing, added landscaping in the alleyway between the buildings, and re-clad the entrance building – all of which received a positive response from existing tenants.
“We think that a year from now, we’re going to see a lot of the empty spaces that open up onto this space fill up with exciting new concepts,” Ellerbe said.
