Caterpillar Inc. is opening a casting facility in Greenwood County which is projected to create 85 new jobs. An existing 103,000-square-foot facility was purchased by Caterpillar for its $13.5 million project.
Located at 108 Corporate Court in Hodges, South Carolina, the new facility should come online in 2019. Interested applicants can visit www.caterpillar.com/en/careers for more information about available jobs.
“We are excited to have the Hodges facility join our global manufacturing footprint,” Caterpillar Large Power Systems division vice president Tana Utley said in the release. “Hodges will provide Caterpillar with a cost-effective source for supply for many of our specialty iron castings.”
Caterpillar manufactures construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. The Hodges facility will manufacture specialty castings used in engines and transmissions within the Caterpillar product line.
“Globally-renowned industry leaders, such as Caterpillar, continue to invest in South Carolina’s world-class workforce,” Gov. Henry McMaster said in the release. “The 85 new jobs that this facility will create will make a major impact on Greenwood and our entire Upstate community.”
