Denny’s brings the American diner to the Philippines with first restaurant


Spartanburg-based family-dining chain Denny’s Corp. announced Monday it has opened its first restaurant in the Philippines.

The location, which is at the Uptown Parade in Bonificacio Global City near Manila, is the first of 10 restaurants Denny’s franchisee The Bistro Group plans to open across the country during the next decade.

A second store in the Philippines is expected to open in November in Santa Rosa, Laguna, according to the company.

“With over 1,700 locations located throughout the world, Denny’s is excited to open in the Philippines, an important gateway to Asia,” said John Miller, president and CEO of Denny’s, in a statement. “We’re delighted with the performance of our America’s Diner concept and with the increasing global acceptance and demand for our brand.”

Denny’s said as of June 29, it had 1,720 franchise and company-owned restaurants with combined sales of $2.8 billion. Its international operating chain included 117 international locations in Canada, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Guam, the United Arab Emirates, Chile, Curacao, El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago.
