Here is what’s on the agenda for the city of Greenville’s Design Review Board Aug. 15 meeting.
Greenville Gateway
The mixed-use project commonly known as Greenville Gateway will return to the Design Review Board to seek final approval of its architectural design details. The project will be on a 1.8-acre property at 250 North Church St., the former Greenville Memorial Auditorium site.
The project will consist of a 24-floor tower and a 29-floor tower, which would make it the tallest building in downtown Greenville. It will include approximately 243 apartments and up to 14,000 square feet of commercial space.
Miami-based NR Investments, the project’s developer, worked with Greenville’s Johnston Design Group to design the mixed-use structure.
The Design Review Board approved the project’s site plans during its May meeting. At that meeting, Daniel Suarez de Puga with NR Investments said if the design details are approved in August they hope to submit for permitting in November or December.
Army & Navy Store Building
The owner of the Greenville Army & Navy Store building in the West End is seeking a final special tax assessment for the historic property. This would freeze the property’s tax assessment at its pre-rehabilitation value of $342,340 for up to 10 years.
The building at 660 S. Main St. was built in 1877 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. Approximately $2.5 million renovations were recently completed to the building over just more than two years.
The Design Review Board approved a preliminary special tax assessment for the property on Aug. 4, 2022. For the property to receive final certification, the board must verify if the project’s rehabilitation was completed as approved.
