The Wandering Bard Meadery announced on social media plans to close this fall.
“Our last day fully open to the public will be November 3, exactly one day short of 7 years to the day after we first opened to the public,” the June 12 post read.
The meadery first opened in 2017 as a production facility in Mauldin before signing on for Hampton Station, located in Greenville’s City View neighborhood, in 2020. It was started by uncle-and-nephew duo Adam and Brian Daughhetee.
Mead is an alcoholic beverage using fermented honey and yeast as its base.
“We’re both kind of like, a little burned out from the industry right now,” Adam Daughhetee said. “But we both love it so we’re trying to find that sweet spot where we can still do it and enjoy it, but not have the burnout.”
The social media post made certain to note that the closure was not related to liquor liability insurance costs. The Daughhetees have backgrounds in IT, with Adam first moving to the Upstate to onboard with Brian’s business, ANC Group.
Wandering Bard Meadery is located in Hampton Station at 1320 Hampton Ave. Ext., Suite 3.
