More than a year and a half after closing its doors, Saltwater Kitchen will be reopening its doors on March 2, promising something “a little more laid back.”
The Lowcountry-inspired restaurant from Rick Erwin Dining Group, located at Haywood Mall, announced the reopening via social media on Feb. 2.

So far, the restaurant has not revealed released additional details on the new concept, but it will remain focused on “oysters, fresh seafood, cocktails and a patio,” according to its Instagram page.
The original Saltwater Kitchen concept combined a casual atmosphere with high-end service and food — not quite the elevated “white linen” service typical of a Rick Erwin eatery, but by no means bar food, either.

Occupying the nearly 6,000-square foot space that previously housed Palmetto Moon, the restaurant first opened its doors in 2019 and featured a decidedly Southern menu of small and shareable plates.

The reopening of Saltwater Kitchen comes just a few months after the dining group closed the doors on its more casual concept Rick’s Deli and Market. The restaurant that focused on lunch and an early evening crowd had been operating out of a space at 200 S. Washington Ave. for more than 10 years.
We’ll keep you posted when we hear more details about Saltwater Kitchen’s new concept.
