Bank of America has named Chip McLeod as its president of Upstate South Carolina, effective immediately.
McLeod most recently served as senior resident director at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, part of Bank of America Corporation. He succeeds Stacy Brandon, who retired in April after leading the Upstate market for more than 10 years.
McLeod brings more than three decades of experience in wealth management and financial services to his new leadership role with Bank of America. He has worked at Merrill since 2007 and led its work in Spartanburg.
In his new role, McLeod will help grow the bank’s market share by building strong local connections and identifying opportunities to expand relationships in the Upstate. Bank of America supports clients at 20 locations across the Upstate, staffed with 270 local bank and Merrill employees.
Brian Moynihan, chair and CEO of Bank of America, said in a statement that McLeod’s established leadership and experience will ensure the bank delivers on its responsible growth strategy to deepen relationships with its clients, the community, and teammates.
“Chip will continue to grow our market share in the Upstate, delivering the full breadth of Bank of America’s capabilities to help our local clients improve their financial lives,” Moynihan said. “We thank Stacy for her remarkable 39 years of service with the company.”
McLeod, a Clemson graduate, has served on the Council of Advisors on Consumer Credit since 2001. He is president of the Spartanburg Downtown Rotary and former president of the Spartanburg Estate Planning Council and Spartanburg Philharmonic Board. McLeod also served on the board of the South Carolina Council on Economic Education at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
