Flame Spray expands operations, creates new jobs in Laurens County

The Flame Spray North America facility in Fountain Inn will undergo a $4 million expansion and hire 20 employees within the next three years, according to a news release.

The company produces a thermal spray coating used for industrial gas turbines and aircraft components. Located in Woodfield Industrial Park, the existing facility was established in 2011 by Flame Spray North America, which is owned by Flame Spray SpA. The Laurens County facility is the company’s only operation outside of Europe. The company purchased the facility’s neighboring property to increase Flame Spray’s service in the aerospace market.

“With this new acquisition, we look forward to accelerating our strategic plan to expand our business into the aircraft market as well as growing the job market by creating new jobs and boosting the economy in Laurens County,” Marco Prosperini, president and CEO of Flame Spray North America, said in the release.

Founded in 1969, Flame Spray has operations in Italy, Hungary, and Croatia, serving the energy, steel and iron, transportation, and paper mill markets, as well as other markets.
