Soteria Community Development Corporation (Soteria CDC) provides financial planning skills, job training, affordable housing, and more to formerly incarcerated and low income citizens. The goal is to empower individuals with self-sufficiency.

The SunTrust Foundation recently recognized Soteria CDC’s efforts with a 2019 Lighting the Way Award and a $75,000 grant.

“The SunTrust Foundation is proud to recognize and support our local nonprofit that empower and strengthen the communities they serve,” Stan Little, president of the SunTrust Foundation said in a press release. “Soteria CDC is making a meaningful impact with their programs to improve the financial well-being of the people who need it most.”

Soteria CDC is one of 36 nonprofits across the Southeast and Midwest presented with a 2019 Lighting the Way Award from the SunTrust Foundation, which gave a total of $2.7 million in grants to these nonprofits.

“We are honored to partner with the SunTrust Foundation,” said Jerry Blassingame, Soteria CDC founder. “This funding will be used to seed our matching savings program for participants in our program.”
