Greenville Area Development Corporation names new leaders

The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC) has named new members of its Board of Directors.

Beverly Haines is the new chairman of its Board of Directors for 2019-2020. Additionally, Tom Epting has been named vice chair, Roy Chamlee as secretary, and Scott Case as treasurer.

The Greenville County Council has also elected Justin Bagwell, Don Erickson and Barry Leasure to serve on the GADC Board.

“County Council greatly appreciates the new officers and all board members who help to guide and direct our County’s economic development activities,” H. G. (Butch) Kirven, Greenville County Council chairman, said in a released statement.

GADC appoints new leadersBeverly Haines is a healthcare consultant, prior GADC board member, and the former President and chief nursing officer of the Patewood Hospital and Medical Campus of the Greenville Health System (now Prisma Health).  A registered nurse, she previously served as senior vice president of Patient Care Services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System in Pittsburgh, PA.  Ms. Haines holds a master’s degree in nursing education with emphasis in nursing administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Duquesne University.  Long active in civic and industry circles, she has actively served in leadership roles with such organizations as the Peace Center, Greenville Women Giving and the Greenville Chorale. She is a graduate of The Riley Institute at Furman University’s Diversity Leaders Initiative.

Tom Epting, an attorney, is a partner in the law firm of Fox Rothschild LLP and focuses his legal practice on intellectual property and government contracting and related business transactions. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, a Patent Examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and Vice Chairman of the Greenville County Research & Technological Development Corporation. Mr. Epting holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Scott Case is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 30 years of professional experience in the areas of tax and finance, having worked at an international accounting firm, as Tax Director for a major corporation, at a major national law firm, as CFO for multiple companies and in a variety of finance and tax roles as a consultant. Mr. Case previously served on Greenville County Council where he authored Greenville’s first biennium budget and led the County to a Triple A credit rating.  Currently, Mr. Case serves as the elected Auditor of Greenville County and is a member of the South Carolina Association of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, and the Government Finance Officers Association. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from Bob Jones University and a master’s in Accountancy from Clemson University.

Roy Chamlee is retired after over 30 years of service to Michelin North America, most recently as Michelin’s Director of State & Local Government Affairs.  His extensive community experience includes service as a Greenville County School Board Trustee, as well as on boards including the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, Greenville Chamber of Commerce, the South Carolina Civil Justice Coalition, and Rolling Green Village.  Mr. Chamlee holds a B.A. from Belmont University, an M.A. from Middle Tennessee State University, and a J.D. from the Cecil Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.

Justin Bagwell serves as Vice President and Corporate Counsel of MidCountry Financial Corp., a financial services holding company headquartered in Greenville that serves customers around the world.  Previously, he practiced law with a boutique firm where he represented numerous state, county, and local governmental entities, officials, and employees in both state and federal courts throughout South Carolina.  Mr. Bagwell holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina Honors College, and a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Don Erickson is a retired executive with more than 38 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry, most recently serving as General Manager and Site Director of Lockheed Martin’s 500-person site in Greenville that provides aircraft sustainment, modification and production services. In addition, he was instrumental in bringing the new F-16 Production Line to Greenville.  He is an active and engaged member in the community supporting Greenville Tech, Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes and the Palmetto Conservation Foundation, and holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Barry Leasure is Managing Partner of GreerWalker CPAs Greenville office. He has more than 28 years of experience providing tax and business advisory services to clients of all sizes across a wide spectrum of industries. He primarily focuses his practice in the construction, property management and real estate development industries including developers, owners, brokers, and investors. He is active in numerous professional organizations including the Urban Land Institute, CFMA South Carolina, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and its South Carolina chapter.  As a volunteer, he is active with the Peace Center, United Way of Greenville County, and a Board Member of Upstate Alliance.
