Immedion, a Greenville-based data services company, has expanded outside of the Carolinas once again with the acquisition of Data Cave, a data center in Indiana.

The purchase of the 86,400-square-foot facility, which was built in 2008, brings the number of Immedion data centers to eight in seven markets, according to a news release. It is part of the company’s Midwest expansion.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, but Immedion says previous Data Cave customers will have access to the company’s facilities and services. The company’s new data center in Indiana will serve customers throughout the Indianapolis, Bloomington, Louisville, Evansville, and Cincinnati metro areas.

The new data center includes fully redundant HVAC systems, card and biometric access controls, fenced perimeter gated entrance, dual fed power, multiple fiber providers with diverse connectivity paths, and a designated business continuity workspace that can accommodate up to 240 people, the release said.

“Immedion is committed to providing our customers with high-touch support and the flexibility needed to manage their increasingly complex IT infrastructure,” said Immedion CEO Frank Mobley, in the release. “With this acquisition, customers will have access to additional colocation resources, network connectivity options and geographic redundancies to meet their current and future needs.”

Founded in 2007, Immedion is a data center services and infrastructure-as-a-service provider that helps local and national companies keep their data, systems and applications safe, secure and always accessible, the release said.

The company, headquartered at 78 Global Drive in Greenville, has since expanded with the acquisition of eight data centers across the Carolinas and Ohio. It most recently purchased Cincinnati-based data center operator Appica.

Over the past decade, Immedion has won numerous awards including Small Business of the Year by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, South Carolina’s 25 Fastest Growing Companies, and the Emerging 30 Award by the Northern Kentucky Chamber.
