Greenwood-based Countybank to add two branches in Greer and Anderson

Greenwood-based Countybank has announced it will open new branch offices in Greer and Anderson later this spring.

The Greer office will be at 103 N. Main St. and the Anderson office at 300 N. Main St.

Both locations are expected to open in mid-May.

“This is a very exciting time for the Countybank family,” said Ken Harper, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Countybank, in a statement. “We are proud to expand the reach of our broad range of financial services and to deliver them in the personal manner that only a true community bank can.”

The bank, which is owned by the holding company TCB Corp., said the offices will help it better serve its clients in both communities.

“We have a very long track record of investing in the communities where we work, live, and play,” Harper said. “Both Greer and Anderson are at the heart of our strategy focusing on growth and service solely within the Upstate of South Carolina—this is our home.”

Founded in 1933 in Greenwood, Countybank has nine office or ATM locations in Greenwood and Greenville Counties.

The bank said it prides itself on employing local professionals with deep connections to the community.

It said it provides a full range of financial solutions for customers, including traditional deposit and loan products, trust and wealth management, mortgage loans, investments services, and insurance.

“Countybank is built for business and is intent on being the local community bank of choice in the Upstate,” said Thornwell Dunlap, president and CEO of Countybank, in a statement. “We continue to expand our Countybank and TCB Corporation franchise selectively as we assess all strategies to build shareholder value.”

The bank said market disruption created by bank mergers has created a need for community banks to expand in the Upstate.

Greer Mayor Rick Danner was recently named Countybank’s vice president of business development. Other Greer leaders involved with the bank include Melody Owens, vice president of corporate communications, and Kevin Duncan, vice president and Greer city executive.

Glenn Buddin will serve as vice president and Anderson market executive.

“I joined the Countybank family to fulfill a lifelong dream of starting a community bank in my hometown,” Buddin said in a statement. “Countybank is the quintessential community bank. I was immediately attracted to Countybank because of its sound leadership, hometown culture, and family values. Once presented with the opportunity to represent this organization in Anderson, I jumped.”
