Home Fashions International, a supplier of home textile products, announced Jan. 18 it plans to invest $5.5 million to expand its Cherokee County operations and create 60 jobs.
To accommodate the expansion, the company said it purchased a new 350,000-square-foot facility at 859 Victory Trail Road in Gaffney near Suminoe Textile America.
The facility, which will be called Gaffney Manufacturing, will allow HFI to quadruple its business during the next five years and reduce its reliance on imported and out-of-state raw materials, the company said.
HFI attributed the expansion to its “exponential growth” in the outdoor cushion business and need to service that growth with another manufacturing and shipping location.
“I have been very happy with both the caliber of the workforce and the business-friendly environment in Cherokee County,” said David Li, owner of HFI, in a statement. “When the business conditions dictated expansion, we considered other locations but determined that the best course of action was to stay right here where we knew the labor force and business climate would allow us to be successful.”
The company said it has already begun hiring for the new positions. Applicants are asked to call 864-487-0011, extension 27.
South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
“Cherokee County is proud of the continued investment by Home Fashions International in our community,” said Tim Spencer, chairman of Cherokee County Council. “This industry will continue to build upon the impact already realized by our citizens. Cherokee County remains committed to the growth and expansion of our existing industry.”
