Electrolux Group will temporarily close its Anderson facility, resulting in employee layoffs.
The Swedish-based home appliance announced plans to restructure its North American operations through a new partnership with Midea Group on April 23. The Anderson facility, which currently manufactures refrigeration appliances, will be converted into a laundry appliance factory.
Current refrigeration production will be phased out of the facility by July. According to Electrolux Group, employees will receive severance and will be eligible for rehire once the Anderson factory is back up and running in the first half of 2027.
A manufacturing joint venture will be established for the Anderson factory, with Electrolux Group owning 55% of the operation and Chinese-based Midea Group holding the remaining 45% of shared. After the transition, the Anderson factory is expected to gradually hire approximately 1,200 skilled manufacturing employees over the next two years.
“This partnership marks a major milestone in the execution of Electrolux Group’s strategy and puts us in a position to accelerate profitable growth,” said Yannick Fierling, president and CEO of Electrolux Group. “It enables us to continue to invest in sustainable, consumer-centric innovations to serve our customers and consumers with even stronger product offerings in North America.”
Two additional joint ventures will be established between the two international manufacturing companies. According to the press release, the partnership is expected to impact approximately 1,500 employees in 2026.
