The crowd that gathered on Nov. 19 inside Zen, an event space located in the West End of downtown Greenville, could’ve been mistaken for a wedding party. All were dressed in formal attire – lots of suits and dresses – but on this evening, the center of attention was not wearing a white wedding gown, but a Clemson-orange suit jacket.

Mayor Knox White, the man in orange, spoke before a crowd of about 200 people at the 2019 season finale of Business & Brews. Now concluding its fourth year, the regular event brings together business professionals across Greenville to network and collaborate, with special guests showing up to speak.

The recent finale, the tenth B&B event of the year, raised money for Upstate Warrior Solution. B&B Co-Coordinator Ben Bounds said it marks B&B’s increasing commitment to non-profit partnerships.

“Coming up, 2020 is going to be our real fundraising year,” Bounds said. “These non-profits contribute so much to the fabric of our community here.”

In his speech before the diverse crowd of professionals, Mayor Knox White addressed the upcoming County Square development, the history of the Unity Park project and other major ongoing development projects.

“We know that when people come here and look around and see what we have, they typically say, ‘Hmm… I’d like to move here, or I’d like to move my company here,'” White said. “That’s our ace in the hole.”

The next B&B season will kick off sometime in February of next year.
