The Upstate Alliance announced last week that Max Metcalf would lead the search committee for a president and CEO to replace Hal Johnson, who announced his resignation earlier this month. The group also appointed Vice President Jennifer Miller to serve as interim president and CEO.
“The Executive Committee has full confidence in Jennifer’s ability to lead the organization during the transition. She has a great depth of knowledge about the organization and is fully invested in its success,” said Jim Evers, chairman of the board, in a statement.
Miller has been a part of the organization since 2006.
Metcalf is the manager for government and community relations for BMW Manufacturing Co. LLC and serves as the secretary/treasurer for the Upstate SC Alliance Board.
Joining Metcalf on the search committee will be Dr. Ronnie Booth, president of Tri-County Technical College and vice chairman of the Upstate SC Alliance Board; Jean Greer, director of the Greenville Technical College Greer Campus; George Acker, VP of governmental affairs with Duke Energy and former Upstate SC Alliance chairman; and Russ Weber, president of Integral Solutions, corporate secretary for JM Smith Corporation and Upstate SC Alliance board member.
Johnson will step down on Dec. 31 to take a position with NAI/Earle Furman. A job description was planned to appear on the Alliance’s website within a few days of the announcement but was not yet posted at press time.
