South Carolina Ports Authority announced 204,457 twenty-foot equivalent container units (TEUs) were handled in May. Within the past year, TEU volume is up 9.7 percent.  

South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) was established in 1942 and operates the public seaport and facilities in Charleston, Dillon, Georgetown, and Greer.

“Our container volumes this fiscal year have been strong compared to FY2018,” Jim Newsome, SCPA president and CEO, said in a released statement. “We look forward to continuing this momentum as we wrap up FY2019 at the end of June.”

Inland Port Greer also managed its highest monthly container volume in May. The facility handled 15,563 rail moves during the month of May and has handled over 128,515 rail moves since last July.
