Six & Twenty Distillery, founded in Powdersville, has announced a new multi-use location to open this fall in the Poe West development in The Village of West Greenville.

In addition to a cocktail lounge, Six & Twenty will feature cocktail classes, retail and event space, as well as full production. A large roll-up door will open to the production floor and guests will be able to watch the distilling process while enjoying a cocktail or tasting flight in the lounge. Tours will also be available in the new location. The original Powdersville location will remain in operation.

“We are excited to be joining the Poe West Development and neighbor with CHI, Greenville Tech’s culinary school,” said David Raad, founder of Six & Twenty Distillery. “We wanted to create an environment where people could sit down and enjoy our spirits, as well as see behind the scenes of the spirit making process.”

Founded in 2011, Six & Twenty Distillery has become one of South Carolina’s premier craft distilleries, highly regarded for using local grains, and specializing in small batch whiskeys, bourbons, and vodkas.

The new design and identity for the historic, nearly 60,000-square-foot former Poe West Hardware & Supply Co. at 556 Perry Ave. were revealed in July 2018. The developer, The Furman Co., plans to break ground this month to turn Poe West into a Class-A office, restaurant, retail, and educational facility with a planned fall 2019 opening.

Six & Twenty joins the anchor tenant, Greenville Technical College’s new Center for Culinary and Hospitality Innovation (CHI), Carolina Bauernhaus Brewery & Winery, and LaRue Fine Chocolate. Additional space is still available.

CBRE’s Blaine Hart and Tommy Molin are spearheading leasing efforts at Poe West and represented The Furman Co. in the lease transaction. Six & Twenty Distillery was represented by Tyson Smoak of Pintail Capital Partners.

“Six & Twenty is doing some really cool things and has created an extremely well-respected brand that continues to rise up,” says the leasing team at CBRE. “We are thrilled they see the Poe West vision and want to use it as a mechanism to take their business to the next level. Their space is going to be a show-stopper on multiple levels and they are yet another great addition to the well-rounded tenant mix that is shaping up.”

Among the future location’s offerings will be Six & Twenty’s award-winning 5 Grain Bourbon, Old Money Whiskey, Heirloom Rye Vodka and Carolina Cream, as well as signature cocktails crafted to showcase each spirit. The new location will also feature limited edition batches such as the Triple Malt Whiskey and Avena Oat Whiskey.

“Craft beer is now, but craft spirits are exploding. Cocktails and spirits seemed to skip the later part of the baby boomer generation but they’re back now in a huge way. Colorful labels and local flavors from urban to country are both hip and sophisticated. What a great addition to our collection of makers and tasters.” said Steve Navarro, CEO at The Furman Co.
