Spartanburg’s 1831 Gala will return for third installment on Jan. 26

The third annual 1831 Gala, hosted by Spartanburg Young Professionals and the United Way of the Piedmont Young Leaders society, will raise funds for Upstate Warrior Solution.

An annual event in Spartanburg that has raised $25,000 during the past two years to support homeless veterans and their families will return on Jan. 26.

Spartanburg Young Professionals (SYP) and United Way of the Piedmont Young Leaders (UWPYL) will host the third 1831 Gala from 8 p.m. to midnight that evening at The Piedmont Club at 361 E. Main St. in downtown Spartanburg.

Cal Wicker, treasurer of SYP, said proceeds from the gala raised $10,000 in 2016, and $15,000 in 2017 for the nonprofit Upstate Warrior Solution. He hopes to see that number increase again in 2018.

Tickets are $50 for SYP, UWPYL, and junior Piedmont Club members, and $60 for guests and non-members.

Admission includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, and live music provided by the Black and Blue Experience.

Attire is black tie optional.

Any donation is welcome. Participants who donate $10 or more will be entered into a drawing for prizes that include an “Unforgettable X3, X5, or X6 Weekend”, one-night stay with complimentary breakfast at the Spartanburg Marriott, and more.
