Canal Insurance Company has announced plans to expand and move its operations with new corporate headquarters in downtown Greenville.
Founded in 1939, the 82-year-old company is headquartered at 400 East Stone Avenue in Greenville will be setting up shop at 101 N. Main Street in the former Bank of America Building. The move, scheduled for mid-2022, is aimed at strengthening the company’s growth plans.
The move also includes exclusive signage rights on the building, with Canal taking over as the anchor tenant in ONE City Plaza, occupying five floors and more than one-third of the building.
Canal president and CEO Paul Brocklebank said the move into the 65,000-square-feet of office space comes as the company has shifted its philosophy over the last decade to operate “more like a start-up than an eight-decade old organization,” adding that the company is seeking “an entirely new caliber of employee” to move the company forward into the decades ahead.
“As a family-owned company, we have considered Greenville home for more than 80 years and share a keen appreciation for the advantages of expanding operations and recruiting employees in such a vibrant city and business environment,” Brocklebank said.
Canal provides insurance products and services including auto liability, motor truck cargo, physical damage, trucker’s general liability coverages and risk management services. The company has operated its headquarters from its current Stone Avenue location for 29 years.
Colliers office brokerage team members Brantley Anderson, Taylor Allen and Bailey Tollison represented Canal in the company’s relocation efforts.
