An 8-story high rise mixed-use development of which 20% is designated as affordable housing has been proposed for Unity Park.
Named the The Delano, the building would rise above Unity Park along the train tracks just off the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail, beside Mayberry Street and Delano Drive and just before the bridge that spans over the Franklin Roosevelt memorial.
The plans, submitted by MHK Architecture & Planning on behalf of property owners Krish Patel and Congressman William Timmons, include a rooftop restaurant, a second-story outdoor pool, 3,200 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and residential space. Fourteen of the 70 apartment units (20%) are designated as affordable housing, based on information submitted to the city.
Timmons and Patel are also the owners of the parking lot and development that houses Southernside Brewing Co., Radical Company, Swamp Rabbit Crossfit and Soul Yoga, which sits just beside the proposed site of The Delano.
The plans for the development will go before the city’s Planning Commission on Oct. 21.
