Trueline, a new music venue by a co-founder of House of Blues, broke ground April 25 in Greenville’s West End.
It was a spectacle, filled with live music and visual effects at the future location on Rhett Street.
In May 2023, Trueline CEO and founder Michael Grozier announced plans to build the venue. Grozier has been involved in live entertainment for more than 30 years with House of Blues and as executive vice president of Live Nation.
Clayton Construction Co. will build the 34,000-square-foot project. Vicinity Capital has generated $5 million in investments to help fund the venue.
The main concert hall will feature tiered seating and a mezzanine, with a full capacity of 1,700.
The groundbreaking began with high school student Christian Goss performing the national anthem on electric guitar. Grozier noted that Goss represented the talent that comes out of the Upstate. Although the venue aims to host national touring acts, it is expected to be a space where local artists can practice their craft.
“It’s been just this collection of people, more and more people coming together to make this thing real,” Grozier said during the event. “I’m thrilled to be at the point of manifesting this but it takes a community to manifest this thing.”
Among the speakers were Greenville Mayor Knox White, VisitGreenvilleSC President and CEO Heath Dillard, and Gail Awan, CEO of Urban League of the Upstate.
Trueline will be located at 401 Rhett St., across South Main Street from Fluor Field.
