Spartanburg County will soon be home to a cutting-edge research and development facility with the soft launch of Xoted Biotechnology Labs at Spartanburg Community College’s Spark Center in Duncan, the company announced May 8.
A subsidiary of DRC Ventures and its holding company, TRB Holdings, Xoted will focus on groundbreaking biotechnology practices and sustainable product development, including plant-based detoxification, seed research, oil refinement, and next-gen textile and clean room applications.
The $4.2 million investment is expected to create 34 new jobs and create a hub for STEM educational and research opportunities.
Xoted has already begun research and development operations within its Spark Center space while it constructs a new clean manufacturing facility.
Christina Rahm, DRC Ventures founder and chief science officer, said Xoted is focused on sustainable science and developing products and processes that detoxify both humans and the environment.
Rahm said she was also looking forward to collaborating with Spartanburg Community College and other state institutions of higher learning to advance science and biotechnology education.
