Cindy Landrum

“I started as a reporter at a weekly paper where we typed our stories on an actual typewriter (remember those?)”

Cindy Landrum has expertly covered the Upstate’s news since 1984 and written for the Community Journals Publishing Group since 2004, garnering over two dozen state and national reporting awards along the way. She’s covered everything from breaking news, education, city and county government, the arts, law enforcement and courts, business, features and sports. “I’m passionate about a good story, whether that is an investigative piece that helps the voiceless have a voice, a news feature that informs readers of a trend that will soon be affecting them, or a feature about one of the many interesting people in Greenville,” she says.

In addition to her love of good stories, the sports fan has a special place in her heart for the Green Bay Packers. A Wisconsin native, she says, “I’m not there now because of one word – winter. When I was a senior in college sending out resumes in April, there was several inches of snow on the ground. I decided then that I wanted go south or west.”

If she’s not spending a Sunday afternoon watching the Pack, she’s spending time with her beloved grandsons, Logan and Cooper. “I’m probably on the floor of my grandsons’ room playing trains or cars or trucks. Or at the Children’s Museum of the Upstate, which has become our special place.”

She also enjoys photography; she has two photographs in the permanent collection at the Pickens County Museum of Art and History, and she is a board member of the Carolina Nature Photographers Association, as well as co-coordinator of its Upstate region.
