South Carolina Research Authority’s investment affiliate, SC Launch, announced March 14 it awarded a $250,000 investment to CarbonCents, a startup based in Walhalla.
The business, which was founded at Clemson University, uses software platform solutions developed in three modules, CarbonBI, SiteBI and BuildingBI, to collect, measure and supply data that may enable organizations to measure and reduce energy costs as well as reduce carbon footprints.
“We are excited to support a startup like CarbonCents, that is working to improve our environment,” said SCRA Executive Director Bob Quinn. “Their technology is making carbon footprint a manageable metric for organizations of any type.”
CarbonCents became an SCRA member company in 2022 and has received a $25,000 academic startup grant.
