Sports marketing veteran Steve Sellery has been named the executive director of the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation.
In a press release announcing the appointment, Bob Nitto, president of BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation, cited Sellery’s past experience as director of sports marketing at the Golf Channel and director of event marketing and partnerships at The Cliffs. “We are confident that Steve will utilize this wealth of experience and leadership to elevate the visibility of our tournament while further maximizing the financial support we are able to offer our charities,” he said.
“I am honored to be leading this team and our efforts across the Upstate to make the greatest impact possible for each of our charities,” Sellery said. “This opportunity represents a dream sequence for me, both personally and professionally, and I look forward to working with our board of directors, sponsors, and community partners well into the future.”
Also announced was the appointment of Mike McGovern as tournament director. McGovern, who previously served as the tournament’s operations director, joined the team in fall 2016 after serving as the operations director at HNS Sports Group in Dublin, Ohio.
Since its inception in 2001, the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation has donated more than $12.7 million to Upstate charities. The tournament groups Web.com tour professionals with amateurs and celebrities.
