Add a European-style inn to the businesses that have blossomed in Travelers Rest along the Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail.
Wendy Lynam, owner of the successful Swamp Rabbit Inn near the trail in downtown Greenville, is launching a sister inn near the trail in downtown Travelers Rest.
She’s calling it The Swamp Rabbit Inn TR, and it will be located in an historic house at 426 South Main Street, between a Hampton Inn and a post office.
The property, which includes two other buildings that can accommodate overnight guests, has been operated as a bed and breakfast called Magnolia Inn since 2008.
Lynam said she bought the property recently, attracted by its location directly across Main Street from the trail and near Trailblazer Park, site of a farmers market on Saturdays.
The property is also within walking distance of the cluster of restaurants, shops and a brewery that have sprung up along the trail in Travelers Rest in recent years.
Lynam said she plans a Feb. 15 opening after renovating the main house.
A cyclist who wrote a guidebook for cycling in Greenville, Lynam said she sees cyclists as the natural customer base for her second inn.
She’ll market it the same way she markets the Swamp Rabbit Inn at 1 Logan St. in Greenville — using social media, email, a blog and bookings from travel websites Expedia and TripAdvisor.
