Want to be swimming by summer? Call Genco Pools and Spas this winter.
As leaves fall and temperatures drop, we all start dreaming of sun-warmed summer days by the pool — but the longer you wait to start creating that backyard oasis, the less likely you are to see that dream become a reality in time for cannonball season.
“Overall, if you start your build in winter, it’s more stress-free,” says Dan Ball, owner of Genco Pools and Spas. “There are a lot of reasons not to wait until spring, but one of the major ones involves new homes. If you’re building a house — or any other residential or resort property — you only want to have to do the landscaping once. My advice: make the pool or spa part of your initial landscaping plan, so that when you’re finished, you’re really finished with everything. You don’t have to come back and try to redo your landscaping layout.”
Supply chain issues can be especially frustrating when installing a new pool, according to Ball.
“You’re dealing with a product that requires many components, maybe even upwards of 50 items that you need in order to be able to build,” he says. “If one particular item is hard to get, it holds up the rest of the project. So the sooner you start, the less you’ll have to worry about being at the mercy of the supply chain. Thankfully, at Genco we have commitments from our suppliers to maintain certain inventory levels for us, so we’re able to offer faster turnaround times and keep our commitments.”
An unexpected delay that homeowners often forget about is inclement weather, which can slow down a build for weeks.
“If you start the process in the winter, any pauses in the work due to the weather are less likely to affect your timeline,” Ball says.
But if delays do happen, you can count on the dedicated Genco project manager who will be assigned to your build to help keep things moving.
Ready to kick off the design process?
The Genco team makes clarity a priority, so your winter planning feels more like summer fun.
“For most people, unless it’s their second pool, they need to be educated on the different options they have and how the technology and equipment works,” Ball says. “Once you have that basic understanding, it makes it easier to select the automation features that will mean the most to you. We provide the homeowner with as much meaningful knowledge as possible. That makes it much easier to identify the right design the first time and prevent costly mistakes.”
But the Genco design process is very much a listening process as well, Ball says.
“We ask a lot of questions. What do you want the pool to look like? A rectangle, or freeform? Do they want a sun ledge or a spa that cascades in? How deep do you want the pool? You really need to design for your client,” he says, “and that comes through experience and listening to your customer.”
